An ancient medical method that was used to treat many diseases, because people were ignorant of the causes of diseases, and therapeutic methods were very limited.

Cupping; in prophetic medicine:
When Islam came, it approved the practice of cupping. The Messenger of God practiced it and it is considered one of the natural prophetic treatments mentioned in prophetic medicine, as he said in the Two Sahihs:
“The best treatment with which you can treat cupping and bloodletting.” Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim

Jabir narrated on the authority of the Prophet, who said:

“If there is any cure in any of your medicines, then it should be done with a cup of cup or cauterized with fire, and I do not like to be cauterized.”

On the authority of Ibn Abbas, on the authority of the Prophet, he said:

“Healing is in three things: drinking honey, applying a scalpel, and cauterizing it with fire, and I forbid my nation from cauterizing it.”

They said that the Prophet had cupping in his head due to pain he had, and in a narration from a migraine he had, and Anas said that he had cupping in the cheeks and withers, and some said the back of his foot. In a narration from him, no one complained to him about a pain in his head except that he told him: Cup it. There was no pain in his legs except that he told him: dye them with henna. It is stated in Prophetic Medicine that cupping on the legs is associated with phlebotomy and harms menstruation, and on the back of the neck is associated with conjunctivitis, diarrhea, and headache, and God knows best.

Cupping and bloodletting are prohibited for those who have had menstruation, a she-camel, an old man, a weak liver and stomach, a woman with a sagging face and feet, a pregnant woman, postpartum women, and a menstruating woman. The best times for bloodletting and cupping are the second and third days of the day. On the authority of Al-Tirmidhi, the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “The best thing for you to use as cupping is on the seventeenth, the nineteenth, and the twenty-first.” On the authority of Anas: “The Messenger of God used to cup the cheeks and the withers, and he used to cup seventeen or nineteen and twenty-one.”
